Vessel Recordings is a boutique record label dedicated to high-quality underground house and techno. Founded 14 years ago in Hawai’i, the label has grown into a trusted name, featuring a hand-selected roster of artists and a strong focus on limited-edition vinyl releases and curated events.

Who runs Vessel Recordings?

The label is curated by Ira James, a veteran of the underground music scene. Jose “Nonfiction” Tabor serves as A&R, overseeing new projects and label expansion while ensuring the highest level of quality in every release.

What makes Vessel different from other record labels?

Vessel is built on authentic relationships, a deep respect for underground music culture, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Unlike mass-market labels, Vessel operates with a highly selective process, pressing limited 170g color vinyl records and delivering events that feature both iconic artists and rising talent.

Who are the artists on the label?

Vessel is home to an impressive lineup of respected DJs and producers, including Doc Martin, Joshua IZ, Andrew Macari, Demuir, DJ Sneak, Thomas White (Natural Rhythm), Nonfiction, Chris Mohn, Wally Callerio, Jordan Strong, Juwan Rates, Jlove, Kid Enigma, Gettoblaster, Hector Moralez, Jaemus, Sen-Sei, Pezzner, Jon Lee (Tilted Records), Andrew Emil, and Lain McPhearson.

Does Vessel Recordings release digital music, or is it vinyl-only?

While vinyl is a core focus, Vessel also embraces digital releases to ensure the music reaches a global audience. However, the label prioritizes high-quality pressings and works with Gil Tamazyan at Capsule Labs for analog mastering and Onyx Press in Los Angeles for vinyl production.

Does Vessel host events?

Yes! Vessel curates top-tier underground events featuring both label artists and industry legends. Recent events have included Doc Martin, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Ira & Nonfiction, Demuir, and more. Upcoming events include May 3, 2025, in San Francisco at The Foundry, with Doc Martin, Jeno, DJ Heather, Ira & Nonfiction, and JSPN (SF/Delta Funk).

Is there Vessel merchandise available?

Absolutely! Vessel offers hats, hoodies, zip-ups, and other exclusive gear. More importantly, the label is one of the few pressing limited color vinyl art pieces, making each release a collector’s item.
